Quite simply said, the North Face Venture Pant is a rain pant, a protective waterproof outer covering for use when you know you’re going to have to endure soggy, wet weather such as rafting in a drizzling rain on the Main Salmon River in Idaho. It functions equally as well for cross-country skiers, snowboaders or inner tube riders who recreate under ever changing weather conditions. Exceptionally lightweight and breathable, the fabric is rip-stop nylon coated with North Face’s proprietary HyVent DT coating. Under magnification, HyVent turns out not to be just a thin layer of coated plastic, but three separate layers of polyurethane, with each layer designed to aid in breathability, waterproofness and moisture control. The outer most layer is a microgrid of tiny dots that lift the fabric away from the skin, (aids in breathability) and allows the fabric to move easily over other clothing layers. Two hand pockets and an elasticized waist band complete this garment. As an added value, the pant will stow in the left pocket, making a package about the size of a large orange. Neat.
