The North Face Spire 45 is a very big, all-season alpine pack - [L] extended volume - 3350 cubic inches - 55 Liters) Climbing expeditions require a lot of gear, and the large capacity Spire is an ideal pack to transport this equipment to base camp. North Face uses its time-tested MGF flex suspension system with the Spire (aluminum center stay with additional angled fiberglass stays) to funnel the weight to the hips for a more comfortable ride. The Spire is top loading and sports a cranial cavity to ease head-bonking, while adjustable angle load-lifters fine tune the pack to the contours of the body. The hood is removable for use as a day pack and an internal sleeve will support a hydration pack. Alpinists pack a lot of widgets and need places to carry them. The Spire is accommodating. There are adjustable ski slots, Hypalon daisy chains, bottom-panel lash points and large side pockets. Bottom line - this is one big Enchilada of a pack.
