Ever feature of this 10 ounce Jacket was designed to reduce bulk and weight from the multipurpose pockets/core vents to the waterproof zipper that eliminates the need for cumbersome Velcro zipper collars. I"m not a mountain racer, a speed climber, or a trail runner: I just like a lighter pack. With the Lightspeed Jacket, there is no reason to ever be caught out in the rain again with out a shell. The North Face Lightspeed Jacket conjures up images of Mercury, the winged-heel god of speed, as the jacket was designed to provide comfort, warmth and protection, at minimal weight, to fleet-footed trail runners. Combining the lightest of Gore-Tex fabric - PacLite with 13mm skinny tape seams, infusion technology (reinforcement of high wear areas like zippers, collars, and cuffs) and Fissure molded elbow construction, the Lightspeed becomes the jacket of choice for mountain racers and climbers moving fast and light across the landscape. Not only is the Gore-Tex Lightspeed waterproof and breathable, but the PacLite membrane contains a "black layer" that is "oil hating." In layman's terms it means that body oils, cosmetics, salt water and insect repellents won’t clog the pores of the membrane, rendering the waterproofness ineffective. Two chest pockets provide core venting, the cuffs are Velcro adjustable and a hem cinchcord holds the jacket snug to the body.
