The North Face Heron 23 Footprint will save a lot of wear and tear on the floor of your North Face tent. It will protect the floor from getting small holes and tears when the tent is pitched over rough ground, where sharp stones, and even pine needles are present. Without a footprint, abrasive material on the ground will ever so slowly begin to wear away at the fabric of your tent floor, and before too many outings you'll begin to see pin-holes developing in the floor of your expensive investment. It's almost guaranteed to happen if a footprint, or ground cloth is not used. Want to try minimalist camping? Leave your tent home, and stake your tent poles and rain fly over your footprint, to create a very lightweight, but functional shelter. Try it, you can do it.
