As an all-around, general purpose climbing shoe, the Five Ten Spire has been the best selling U.S. climbing shoe for the last decade. Constructed with leather high tops for increased ankle support, something new climbers generally need, and rounded toes for a more comfortable fit, the Spire is the shoe of choice for climbers being initiated into the sport. Five Ten's original Stealth C4 rubber outsole will keep you attached to the slickest rocks. The heel pocket is a "Slingshot" construction which forces the foot forward, concentrating power to the big toe. Because leather stretches, you'll want to buy this shoe a half size under your regular shoe size. Five Ten says the stretch is primarily in the width, with limited stretch in the length.
