Ben's DEET 100 Max Tick and Insect Repellent is the best insect repellent on the market. With a concentration of 95% DEET, Ben’s 100 Max is recommended for use in areas of heavy insect infestation. Ben’s 100 Max repels insect bites rather than kills them and is extremely effective against tick bites which transmit Lyme disease and mosquito bites which transmit Dengue fever, West Nile fever and malaria. The active ingredient in Ben’s 100 Max is DEET and works by blocking an insect's ability to detect carbon dioxide and lactic acid, the aromas used by insects to locate hosts. Water, rather than alcohol is used in the repellent formula. It doesn't evaporate as quickly as alcohol, has less of an "insect repellent" smell, and stays on the skin longer, reducing the need for repeat applications. One application provides 10 hours of protection.
