Ben's 30 DEET Tick and Insect Repellent should be your fist defense against biting insects. Ben's 30 repels insects bites rather than kills them, and is extremely effective against tick bites which transmit Lyme disease and mosquito bites which transmit Dengue fever, West Nile fever and malaria. The active ingredient in Ben’s 30 is DEET and works by blocking an insect's ability to detect carbon dioxide and lactic acid, the aromas used by insects to locate hosts. Water, rather than alcohol is used in the repellent formula. It doesn't evaporate as quickly as alcohol, has less of an "insect repellent" smell, and stays on the skin longer, reducing the need for repeat applications. Ben's 30 DEET Repellent is appropriate for use with children.
